The map was dedicated to San Francesco da Paola, the map includes beautiful marin monsters ships and compass roses.
The cartouche surrounds the map on the borders showing old coins with icons of Saints or monks. The author was Prosper Parisius ( Prospero Parisio ) a famous Italian cartographer who had many connections with German and Franch scientists during the 1500's and 1600's. He also wrote others famous books like Trattato Nuovo Delle Cose Maravigliose Dell'Alma Città Di Roma ...Ornato De Molte Figvre, with more than 300 churches shown in the book (1625), Rara magnae Graeciae numismata and Rara magnae Graeciae numismata together with the German Johann Georg Volckamer in the 1683.
