Domenico de' Rossi (1659_1730) was an Italian sculptor and engraver. In 1709 Domenico inherited the printshop of Giovanni Giacomo de' Rossi, by the church of Santa Maria della Pace, the largest and most long-lived publisher of the Roman baroque. Several generations of the de' Rossi participated in the family publishing firm established in the 17th century, which continued to produce engravings for the use of designers
The Principato Citra (or Principato Citeriore) pictured in this map was an administrative unit of the Regno di Napoli (kingdom of Naples) and subsequently of the Regno delle Due Sicile (kingdom of two Sicilies letterally). In the cartouche in the lower lest side there is a dedication to a local attorney Diego de Pace

Engraving Information:

This artistic reproduction of a vintage map was made using modern graphic procedures, but obtaining the results found in the antique copperplate engraving technique, as one can easily find out by lightly rubbing his/her finger on the map. This map, which is an exact reproduction of the original antique, is printed on cotton paper panels which are glued and mounted on a cotton cloth background "a stacchi" (slightly separated from each other), in order to allow for folding and easier transport.
